The Mecca Society is an alumni-led Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) Collective for Howard University. When you commit to The Mecca Society, you’re committing to maximizing opportunities for Howard scholar-athletes to build their brand and earn compensation. We are an alumni organization on a mission to change the way we think about how to support The Mecca. The Mecca Society was conceived out of a deep and abiding love for an institution that has done so much to change the world. The Mecca Society endeavors to fulfill our Truth and Service mission and help to unify the collective voices and talents of Howard alumni and benefactors to personally contribute to the growth and success of The university. We recognize that there are many impactful ways to contribute and we are dedicated to creating and improving opportunities for everyone to support the financial future of The university.
Howard has grown from a single-frame building in 1867 and evolved to more than 89 acres, including the six-story, 400-bed Howard University Hospital. Since 1974, it has expanded to include a 22-acre School of Law West Campus, a 22-acre School of Divinity East Campus and another three-fifths of an acre facility in northeast Washington and a 108-acre tract of land in Beltsville, Maryland.
Students pursue 143 programs of study leading to undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees with a commitment to Excellence in Truth and Service. and produces more on-campus African American Ph.D. recipients than any other university in the United States. The University boasts nationally ranked programs in social work, business and communications.
The Howard University Health Sciences division includes the Howard University Hospital and the Colleges of Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Nursing and Allied Health Sciences and The Howard University School of Law has served as an advocate for social justice and as an architect of social change and has produced the first African-American Supreme Court Justice. Howard's Law School is the No. 1 law school for African Americans.
The University traditionally has had the largest gathering of Black scholars in the world.
